Finished in iconic Rosso Corsa over a classic Nero leather interior, and showing just 2,447 miles (dashboard reads 3,939 km), this extraordinary supercar represents the genesis of Ferraris modern hypercar lineage. Introduced as Ferraris homologation special for Group B racing, the 288 GTO stands as one of the most significant collector Ferraris of the 20th century. This example was produced on March 18, 1985 and delivered new through Ferrari Rome, adding to its exceptional provenance. It received Ferrari Classiche certification in 2019, confirming its authenticity and historical significance within Ferraris archive. This particular 288 GTO has benefited from extensive specialist care. In 2020, the car underwent an engine rebuild and chassis restoration performed by Michelotto in Italy, the legendary Ferrari race engineering firm responsible for many of Maranellos most important competition projects. Following its restoration, the vehicle was proudly displayed at the Cavallino Classic in 2022, one of the worlds most prestigious gatherings of historic Ferraris. The car retains desirable factory features including air conditioning and power windows, reflecting its dual purpose as both a performance icon and grand touring machine. Engine and Performance: The 288 GTO is powered by a twin turbocharged 2.9 liter V8 engine producing 400 horsepower and 366 lb ft of torque. Power is delivered through a 5 speed manual transmission to the rear wheels, propelling the lightweight composite bodied supercar from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.8 seconds with a top speed exceeding 189 mph. At the time of its debut, the 288 GTO was the fastest road going Ferrari ever built and laid the foundation for legendary successors such as the F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari.
